WRAP Yourself in Scripture, now in its third edition, is designed to help you read, listen and pray with Scripture using the method called WRAP, which is an acronym that stands for Write, Reflect, Apply, and Pray.
The goal of WRAP is to foster a personal encounter and conversation with Jesus Christ through the Scriptures. In a sense, WRAP is a way to help you feel “wrapped” in God’s Word, as though you were wrapped in a garment of love and grace.
WRAP will lead you in developing a Scripture-based prayer life and encourage you to let the Word of God sink into your soul and spirit so that you no longer only see the words on a page but hear the words as God speaks to your heart.
Each chapter starts with a Connection to help you prayerfully read the verses, reflect on the meaning, and connect the events of your life with the events of that time.
Each chapter contains the Scripture passages from the New Revised Standard Version-Catholic Edition translation NRSV-CE or from the New American Bible Revised Edition with excerpts from the Lectionary for Mass for Use in the Dioceses of the United States of America.
Application Questions follow the Connections. The questions are grouped by themes to help you focus on the verses and meaning, plus follow the events and understand their significance.
Commentary focuses on cultural context, perspective, themes and summaries. Definitions of difficult terms are included to explain the meaning of words in Scripture that may not be familiar to readers today. In addition, historical notes are offered to provide background.
Reflections will help you look at the principles from the Scriptures studied in each chapter and include encouragement for personal application.
Personal Prayers at the end of each chapter invite you to respond from you heart with prayer based on what the Scriptures consoled or challenged in you. In addition, you will be guided to ask for God's help related to what the Scriptures inspired in each chapter.
